The Prayer Guide For Beginners

Image
So we've learnt that most times when people are asked to pray, they often use the excuse ''I don't know how to''. But we don't think so. We do not think they don't know how to pray. We think that they are too shy or they do not know exactly what to pray about. Well we have to break it to you that praying is easy once you have understood the true meaning of prayer. Prayer means communicating with your creator.  So once you see your creator as your Father or close Friend, imagine him as a Family and start talking With Him and not To Him.            When praying, use the acronym ACTS, it will guide you. In fact, this is all you need for any prayer of any kind and at anywhere or any place. The acronym stands for Adoration Confession Thanksgiving and Supplication.  Adoration:  When you pray, you want to adore your creator, praising Him with all kinds of wonderful and beautiful names. You do not want to start ...

If you are conversant with examination, especially external examinations, like WAEC (West African Examination Council), NECO ( National Examination Council) JAMB or any other external examination body within your vicinity then you should surely be conversant with their questions and how to answer them.     Today, I am focusing more on Literature and terms commonly used in literature examination ( external examination). If you have any questions or comments, please provide them in the comment section. The following terms are: 1. Comment: This literally means to write a note of observation or a note that briefly explains the concept, either to criticise or commend. You are expected to express your personal opinions when answering a question that says comment. For example, Comment on Robert Frost's poem Birches. 2. Compare and contrast: Here, you are expected to write down the similarities and differences of the concept. Figures of speech, symbolism...

THE NEGRO SPEAKS OF RIVERS: LANGSTON HUGHES

I've known rivers: I've known rivers ancient as the world older than the Flow of human veins My soul has grown deep like the rivers I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it. I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln went down the New Orleans, and I've seen its muddy bosom turn all golden in the sunset. I've known rivers: Ancient, dusky rivers My soul has grown deep like rivers.   This poem was written by James Langston Hughes, an African-American poet who was born February 1, 1902 and died May 22, 1967. Poem Plot The river in the poem symbolizes the linkage of human life from time in memorial to the present day. He mentions the rivers Euphrates and Mississippi which represents the history of mankind from biblical times to the period of the American Civil War. The poet also claims to have bathed in Euphrates when dawns were ...

REACTING TO HATE COMMENTS

Hate comments! One of those things people say to bring us down, make us unhappy or make us stop believing in ourselves. Why do they do this? Out of jealousy; envy or is it just the fact that they are just haters? Whatever the reason is, it should never get into our heads. Whenever you receive a hate comment or hate speech as it is called, or an offensive and attacking speech, just hold your head up high and do not listen to them.          If you get a hate comment or speech for doing what is right then carry on with your right works but if the comment comes in form of a rebuke because of the wrong things you always do then forget about the manner in which it was said and heed to the advice.   People mostly receive hate comment either on the internet or face to face in their various place of work, environment, schools and the like and how you react to these comments is what softens or increases the pain afflicted.  As...

SHOES: MUST KNOW

Image
It is not a secret that teenage girls and women adore shoes. When you are a rookie, buying a new pair is an instant mood lifter. The following are some useful tips. 1. Even if you love a particular shoe and can not walk in them, DO NOT purchase them because limping around is not pleasant. 2. If you are wearing an over-the-top dress, for example, keep your shoes toned down. But if you are wearing a low key, a stand-out shoe would be advisable. 3.Flats are fine but if you are going for heights, wedges is an ideal option. 4. Night outings are the best time for getting attention for your shoes. If you still want to wear an over-the-top dress during the day, choose a peep toe pump or a closed toe pump. 5. When wearing short dresses or skirts, wear a lower heal or flat so as to balance out and not show too much leg. 6. The trouser leg should fall above or at the ankle. Skirts and dresses should be a little bit above the kneel.     When buying shoes you must hav...
