The power of words

Today makes it exactly two fruitful years of blogging experience as we celebrate our second birthday at blog DMO. Today we will be speaking on the power of words. Words have the power to heal and to hurt, to encourage and to discourage, to make stronger and to make weaker. The tongue makes the flow of words possible. James 3:1-12 talks about taming the tongue. Note: when words are many, sin is not far. The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit. Therefore, words must be used with care. Destructive words flows out from the following tongues: * Deceitful tongue: To be deceitful is to deliberately cause someone to believe what is not true. * Flattering tongue: To flatter is to lavish compliments on someone especially in order to further ones own interest. * A prideful and a lying tongue, a tongue that intentionally utters false statements. As it is well known that: A truthful lip endures forever but a lying tongue lasts only for a moment.

Fashion 101: A healthy balanced diet

So today I tried doing something new....I actually made African Yam and plantain porridge. It was amazing because it had all 6 classes of food nutrients, I really wish I could post the picture but anyways let's get straight to the Ingredients. P.S It was rich in vitamins and veggies Ingredients African Yam Plantains Stocked fish(you could use other kinds of fish if you wish) Maggi cubes Ugu leaves( you could substitute for water leaves or greens) Palm oil Salt Grounded dry pepper Curry Crayfish I went all vegetarian(pescatarian) on this dish because its more healthy. So cut the yam in cubes and boil, add plantains while yam is almost boiled(because plantains are naturally soft, except you're using native plantains) add in the stock fish from the onset because stock fish isn't quite tender. When plantains and yams are getting soft, add the ugu leaves(or water leaves or greens). Don't forget to put the dry pepper, curry, salt and crayfish and lastly, the pal

A relationship with God

Today, I want to look back on last week's sermon and how edifying it truly was(and still is) and I want to share it to everyone reading this blog post. Although it was quite a lengthy sermon, I am just going to pin point a few but helpful things I learnt. The original title of this sermon was a relationship with God, family and the lost but I'm just going to talk about a relationship with God. In Deuteronomy 6:3-6 we find out that it is only when we obey God that things will go well with us and so we are expected to love the Lord our God with all our heart our soul and our strength. Love is one of the factors that strengthens a relationship, so love can't be found missing in your relationship with God. A relationship without love can not be a godly relationship....that's if its a relationship at all. "You can not pray in love and live in hate and still think you are worshipping God" Sometimes God does not change your situation because He is trying to chang

FASHION 101: HOW TO HANDLE NATURAL AFRICAN HAIR(FOR BEGINNERS)

Image
I have virgin hair, I've been natural for almost 4 years now, I do not like kinky hair!! Have you heard those statements before?! I'm sure you have..heheh... Well Natural kinky or Virgin hair is African hair which has not been relaxed with relaxing chemicals or agents. With time these hair probably becomes Afro when left over a period of years. When handling virgin hair, shampoo once or twice a week, because African hair tends to be dry. De-tangle hair before washing it so it will be easier to wash and do not forget to condition. conditioning helps to restore moisture. A blow drier can be used to blow dry African hair and then you could also use these protective hairstyles on your hair.( twist, braids and bantu knots.   Twisting and braiding your natural african hair are one of the many many protective hairstyles for natural hair. There isa also the bantu knot hairstyle.   a weave-on can also be sewed into your hair. The weave-on should last for a

FASHION 101: ALL ABOUT THE LBD

Image
The LBD( little black dress) is one of the essential parts of a lady's wardrobe and can be worn to quite a number of events like a cocktail party, a get together, a dinner date... just to mention a few. This elegant dress can be accompanied with a jacket and flats or worn like that with heels...and of course a nice jewelry. The colour black is bold, black is attitude, black is sophisticated... you name it. It probably will not be right if it would have been an LYD( little yellow dress) or LRD or LGD, so flaunt that LBD for your  next outing.  Going casual with your LBD as you will love to do in the daytime requires very little eforts. Just throw on a cardigan or woolly jacket, a pair of lofas or flat boots and you are DONE for the day!!!   or go for a jean jacket and lofa instead For the evening time or at get-togethers with your LBD go for something a little more sophisticated than you went for at the daytime. Why not throw on some jewelries and a purse or bag, and keep y
