The power of words

Today makes it exactly two fruitful years of blogging experience as we celebrate our second birthday at blog DMO. Today we will be speaking on the power of words.

Words have the power to heal and to hurt, to encourage and to discourage, to make stronger and to make weaker. The tongue makes the flow of words possible. James 3:1-12 talks about taming the tongue.

Note: when words are many, sin is not far. The tongue has the power of life and death and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Therefore, words must be used with care.
Destructive words flows out from the following tongues:
* Deceitful tongue: To be deceitful is to deliberately cause someone to believe what is not true.

* Flattering tongue: To flatter is to lavish compliments on someone especially in order to further ones own interest.

* A prideful and a lying tongue, a tongue that intentionally utters false statements.

As it is well known that: A truthful lip endures forever but a lying tongue lasts only for a moment.

* Perverse tongue:  To be perverse means to resist guidance or discipline, always tending to do the opposite of what is normal or wanted, contrary to that which is accepted or expected.

* A sly tongue: to be sly is to be cunning and deceitful in nature

Now let's move to the positive tongue traits

*Healing tongue
*The gentle tongue: to be mild and kind in temperament or character is to be gentle.
*Truthful tongue
...and the lists goes on and on.....

Words can wither determine your character (what God knows you to be) or your reputation (what men think you to be)

We'd like to round up with this little story.

Two women saw a beggar on the road and it so happened that each woman was with her child. The first woman pointed to the beggar and said to her child 'make sure you succeed in life so you won't be like him'  while the second woman, looking at the beggar with pity said to hers, 'make sure you succeed so that you can help people like him'....speaking about the power of words.

We thank you for reading and for also tagging along with us this two years and we hope you continue still as many more years come by.
